Project Overview
The Bapco Modernization Programme (BMP) stands as the most significant energy investment in Bahrain’s history, aiming to transform the existing Sitra refinery into a world-class facility. This strategic initiative is designed to increase refining capacity, enhance product quality, improve energy efficiency, and ensure environmental compliance, aligning with Bahrain’s Vision 2030 for sustainable economic growth.
Scope of Work
The BMP encompasses both Greenfield and Brownfield developments:
- Greenfield Developments: Construction of 21 new process units and 16 utility units, including:
- Residue Hydrocracking Unit (1RHCU)
- New Crude and Vacuum Distillation Units (7CDU/7VDU)
- Second Hydrocracker (2HCU)
- #3 Sulfur Recovery Plant
- Brownfield Upgrades: Revamping 53 existing units within the refinery to integrate with new installations and improve overall efficiency.
- Infrastructure Enhancements: Upgrades to the Sitra Tank Farm, Sitra Wharf, and associated transfer pipelines to support increased capacity and improved logistics.
